MTN is one of the leading mobile network operators in the world. It caters to over 20 countries in Africa. A major chunk of its revenue is generated from Nigeria, where the company has a 35%+ Market share and over 70 million subscribers. To cater to their growing internet users, MTN Nigeria started a Next-Gen initiative that works on upgrading all the touchpoints of users with the brand and its online services. Upgrading the myMTN app is one of the main objectives of this initiative. 

The current version of the myMTN app has very basic functionality as the majority of MTN customers in Nigeria don't rely on the internet for recharge until recently. According to the current initiative, the app should be a one-stop-destination for all MTN services including mobile recharge.

My task was to overhaul the recharge journey by adding unique and value-added features that mirror the company's Next-Gen vision.


The Application

I have created an end-to-end solution for the recharge journey of myMTN Application. I spent a significant amount of time understanding the Telecom business in Africa, the mental models of Africans, and the direct and indirect competitors to develop a holistic perspective before working on the solution.
